Artist Statement

​

I am Savhana Lecoro, known in the art world as SAVY, a Haitian-born visual artist based in Montréal.

​

Largely self-taught as a painter, my practice has been shaped through curiosity, experimentation, and a constant desire to learn. I began painting blue figures as a way of exploring the Divine Feminine and creating images capable of expressing emotions and states of mind. Rather than illustrating stories, I seek visual metaphors that invite contemplation and personal interpretation.

Working primarily with acrylic and oil, I often build my palette from the three primary colours, embracing colour mixing as an essential part of my creative process. What began as the technical challenge of painting realistic blue skin gradually evolved into a visual language of its own.

Although I studied landscape architecture, painting has always remained my most instinctive form of expression. Today, my background in landscape architecture has begun to increasingly influence my work, introducing architectural spaces, perspective, light, and symbolic thresholds as new ways of exploring emotion.

Through colour, light, and space, I create contemplative worlds that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and form their own interpretations.
